So I went to start my truck today ( 1999 f250 5.4), it hasn't ran in a couple days due to -38C weather. When I started it today, it started rough(understandable in this weather) but my abs light and brake light came on and will not shut off. It ran fine the last time I used it, but now the lights came on. I ain't going anywhere until I can at least get an idea of what May have happened. Can anyone help please!?!
Your regular brakes should work fine to drive your truck around. ABS system is independent from regular hydraulic brake system (at least my 2003 brake system is operating so - as per Ford Owner's manual ). Only you will not get the help of pulsing ABS on slippery ground .
Sometime ABS light comes and goes (intermittent malfunction) . I remember my ABS light came on as we were returning to the campground from a day trip at Yosemite NP. I ignored it that day , it never came back again (that was year 2003 October ) . And , yes my ABS light is working fine , it is on with ignition on (engine not running) , and it is off (with engine running ).
So, relax , you can do some diagnostics at a leisurely pace .

Expect my brake light is on also, not just the abs. I've looked around and they say it can be a hydraulic brake issue. Except in my town you are lucky if you can get your vehicle into a shop and some shops are getting a bad rep. I can try and figure out what's going on in one of the shops in my yard, except all are full from our companies.
