Intelligent key programming.

Has any one succesfully programmed a third key fob. This is a 2013 Explorer limited with factory remote start. I have two working fobs. I have the new fob in the pocket in the center console. The new fob is a Ford fob and its numbers match the existing fobs. I do unlock 3 times hit the brake do lock 3 times hit the brake and engine light begins blinking indicating I am in program mode. I push the start button per directions. At this point I never see the fob programmed message appear on the info screen and the blinking engine light times out on the start / stop switch. Even put a new battery in new fob. Anybody ever get this to work.

Do you have all vehicle doors closed when you program? My 16 Explorer Sport has a different programming routing, but it did not work for me until I closed the driver door while programming.

Here is an update. I ordered a used key from EBay. Went out Sunday and tried the new key from Ford still would not program. Let that try time out. Then put used key in the pocket and went through the procedure again. Used key programmed perfectly.
Now of course Ford doesn't want to warranty the new key. My guess it is defective.

How long you had the 'new' key?
bring it to them and tell them here - program YOUR key...

The whole reason for doing this myself was to avoid the $100.00 plus programming fee. It ain't over yet.
