hard to start after new injectors.

Put all new injectors in my truck today, took a lot of cranking to get it started 1st time. I've shut the truck off a couple times after it warmed up and its very hard to get it to start. It will start if u give it a little throttle and it revs up upon starting. Any ideas, drove it about 5 miles and been running 45 mins. Injectors are full force from clay.

It'll be hard to start until you get all of the air out of the oil rails. Go drive it hard for 50 miles and you'll notice it starts easier each time. With my 7 mile commute to work, it takes a few days before it'll start normally.

Yeah... you can idle until you drain the tank, but it's not the same as romping on it on the interstate a couple of times and dislodging the bubbles from their hiding places. 50 to 100 miles gets it done, depending on a lot of variables.

OK, took it out and put about 35 miles on the truck with a good mix of driving. It does start better and is starting to run a lot smoother. Thanks guys.

FFD or PSI? We'd like to know how those perform over time.

Update: after installing this new injectors my miss went away but the truck now idled lime crap. So after trying everything I know I gave in and took it to my local diesel shop. After they went over everything on the engine they pulled the injectors and had them sent out for testing. Came back with scored nozzles! After 50 a piece for repair and shipping they are on their way back. And before you ask my truck gets a new fuel filter every 5k miles and has a filter pre pump with the hutch and harpoon mod. Not happy to say the least. With labor and repair I've tacked another 1000 on the cost of the injectors. Should have just bought new and been done.

Sorry about your troubles. I have been debating new of refurb when I pull the trigger. It seems to me there are more issues being reported with refurbs over the past year or so. Maybe just me though.

Was the repair not under Warr? Guess I'll read up on what causes scored nozzles?

Another convert. I'm sorry you had to go through that... but you're not alone with your choice, your misadventure, or the lesson learned. Please share this when it comes time to offer feedback to injector shoppers in the future. I beat the "new" stick drum pretty hard.

In case you're curious: I traded my remans in for credit with FFD, and kicked some considerable cash Eastward to get all new. I'm pleased with those results... new sticks are soooo different.

Are you sure there is no air entering the fuel system somehow? Pre pump filter has no signs of air?

No offense, I ask because I thought FFD includes NEW nozzles with their reman's? And from what I have read they have a pretty good Rep

I think they do new nozzles on their remans, and they have earned their good rep. Bear in mind, all these injector guys (no matter who they are) are absolutely buried with a bounty of business... so quality control can suffer. It's possible there's scoring on the nozzles from air in fuel... or lack of fuel additive - I really don't know this one.

I run power service additive in my truck with every fill up. My stock 145k injectors idled smooth, but you could feel the miss up to about 1800rpm. After changing injectors to these, they have idled like **** from day one.

Also my truck has the hutch mod and the frx from riffraff. So air should be an issue. I checked all my in tank stuff with a vacuum pump and double clamped all my connections.
