How's it going everyone? New to the forum and old ford trucks, So bare with me!

I am in the process of moving into a new place and it just so happens the landlord has a 59 F250 she wants to get rid of. I went through it a bit but haven't gotten too serious. Everything seems REALLY solid. Seat has been reupholstered, engine seems to have been out, new exhaust she is the second owner and the truck seems to have been garage kept and cared for.

The only major problem on the surface is the clutch pedal has no input so the clutch isn't disengaging. I'm assuming this will be a clutch master issue. But we will see.

My biggest question is what are the differences between the f100 and f250? Is it just a matter of suspension and if so are they interchangeable? I want to lower (I know there are varying opinions on this with the old ones) the truck and keep it semi comfortable.

Ill take some pictures of her tomorrow...

Welcome to FTE.

Much of the front suspension is interchangeable. Even though changing the front end would have given me more options, i.e, disc brakes, wheels, etc., I just stayed stock.

There are a few here who can provide the info, and will, when they run across your thread. I daresay there are a few who will give you way more info than you were expecting, or wanting.......

So the front end of the 100/250 are mostly interchangeable, how about the rear? I guess a flip/springs/c notching is pretty universal. I would like to lower with springs so I don't have to cut the frame.

I don't plan on doing much to change it but I do want to lower it 2-3 inches and throw some nice wheels on it. Other than that it will be maintenance some restoration and a paint job.

I was able to snap a few terrible shots today. The truck is extremely solid...

I think you will find the wheels on f100 are 5x5 1/2. The f250 are 8 lug. Some change out the front spindles and the rear axels so they can use the f100 bolt pattern for the after market wheels.

Yeah they are 8 lug. I wonder if there is anyone interested in a trade... When it warms up and I get going with things I might have to try that out. I also could just get an adapter and save some trouble. Since I'll probably need spacers for aftermarket wheels anyway.

Nice truck! I've spent the last week trying to figure out how to get rid of my 5 lug bolt pattern, I bet you're in Nevada or or some place a thousand miles from NW IND. My wheels are turning. Are yours 15 or 16"?

I'm in upstate New York... Honestly I haven't looked. I have been trying to get rid of 8" of snow ontop of 6" of ice ontop of more snow on some more ice whilst moving.

I'll take a quick look later tonight or in the am.

Typical rust outs are back of front fenders and front cab corners/mounts. Are those solid? From what I see, you have about the best starting platform you can ask for.
I lowered my f100 using reverse eye leafs in the springs. Got them from Sac Vintage Ford. Right around 2 inches front and rear.

I looked quick underneath (happened to be by the rear of the cab) and the Seams were at a quick glance perfect. Are the springs different from the 100 to the 250? Two inches lower is exactly what I'm looking for....

I'm not well versed with the older trucks. I have an 85 volkswagen scirocco an fj and a 95.5 Audi wagon. I've owned A LOT of vehicles I figured I needed an American car. I was planning on a 67-69 lincoln continental. But I couldn't pass this truck up.

Man, that truck is nice! What a score. Congratulations.

Google Sids dropped axles for another way to lower front. Reversing eyes is going to be most cost effective for ya tho

Thanks! I'm excited!

I want to do it once do it right. I don't want a totally terrible ride either you know? I read flipping isn't the most comfortable solution.

Wow, that brings back memories. I had that exact truck in that exact condition, color, etc., except mine was an F100 and a shortbox. 60,000 original miles when I got it in the mid 1980's. I wish I still had it. Great score.

Thank again! It's going to be a little slow going until it warms up a bit. I'm going to try to get it running this weekend.

The wheels on it are 16's as well.
