Cloyes timing chain 390fe. issue!!

Hello guys just recently purchased a cloyes billet true roller speed set. timing chain! 9-3508x9 speed set. 9 keyway. Anyways the cam gear/big gear the dot on the gear is in the wrong position. The dot on the cam gear is 180 degrees from the correct position. We could just set the dot straight up on top and crank gear dot strait up top and all is good. But for the average joe mech might not catch this. Just passing the word and emailed Cloyes on what we found and trying to help out. I'm a big fan of cloyes over the yrs and will use again. Just they made a little mistake and hopefully i can save somebody a issue down the road.

You should be able to install it with dots together. Next rotation, cam gear dot will be straight up. Next rotation it will point down. It's just "dotted" for the power stroke vs. the intake stroke (or vice versa).

....er,... I think.....

Thinking the same thing. Since it runs at 1/2 speed. Every other rotation it will be "on" timing with crank mark.

Or did they put the cam pin in the wrong place? Can't for memory remember if it is up or down when the dots are together?

chain stuff.

cam pin is normally opposite the mark on cam gear. In this case the cam pin was on the same side the dot on cam gear.
