With the weather finally starting to cooperate, I was able to pick up my new 48 COE today. I have the hood, grille, rad and support, and dog house covers to go with it, along with the passenger seat. pretty cool stuff. Still not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it's home now. Just have to go back sometime soon and pick up the F8 and the other stuff the seller wants to be rid of.

From the rear window

Stopped next to an old building by the side of the highway (US 12) in Louden to check straps and such. Looks like it might have been an old gas station. Had to take the shot.

Wayne,

The body looks to be in pretty good shape.
It's always fun to drag a new project home, I'm envious

It's in really good shape. I'll have to get more pics now that it's home, but the insides of the fenders look like new. The only real rust is the cab corners. the rest is really straight and solid.

One thing I noticed that I thought was odd is there's no firewall tag/patent plate like on conventional trucks. No evidence of it ever having one. For the other COE guys here; is this common? And the firewall stamp is much shorter than others we've seen. It says 29 W 60. Found the frame stamp, right in front of the pedals on the drivers side, and it matches the glove box tag.

Cool! I say get a wrecking yard 300 I6, a 4spd trans, maybe do some brake work and your ready to roll!

By the way, I'm still using the parking brake lever you sold me, it works good.

Wayne, I'm jealous. I wish mine had been that straight and complete when I got it.
As for the firewall tag, mine has one in the upper right corner of the firewall....no idea when Ford started using them though

The firewall tag on Ford's goes way, way back. Frankly, I was surprised not to see one. I kind of assumed someone may have removed it, but there's no holes or scarring or anything that would resemble it ever being present. Ford quit using them on the trucks in '52.

Stopped in that exact spot last fall coming back from picking up my wife's horse trailer.

Nice score on the truck.

Great score, Wayne! I think I'm seeing the shadow of a lost F-6 badge on the side. So it's a Ford, not a Merc, am I right? Stu
