Anyone know the part #'s I'll need to fix the 'ol air intrusion issue in my 1983 6.9?
You don't really need the part numbers to order from the dealerships or anything like that. You can just go to places like www.DieselCare.com, or www.AccurateDiesel.com, and order the 35 dollar kits (Includes clamps, relief lines, copper crush washers, etc)
Does anyone know why they use the spring type hose clamps?
Would the Trident Gear type that are found on heater hoses and other fuel lines not work better? Does the hose break down and cause the leak or is it the O-rings on the plastic tees/caps or the caps, or what??

It's hard to pin-point the cause; sometimes the hoses do break down if you don't get the fuel treated hoses, other times they (and the O-rings) break down from excessive heat and the constant thermal expansion.
It would make sense to get the Trident Gear/Worm gear hose clamps, but I've never been able to find choose style small enough to fight those hoses. You may respond with, "well, just keep cranking it down with the screwdriver till it fits!" But those clamps start to turn into ovals when tightened too tightly and it doesn't create a nice seal like those spring clamps.
I personally don't mind the spring clamps. I feel like if their on, then I'm confident the seal is good.
Napa had a kit that worked out well.....for now. No cold start problems anymore. Over priced for what it was though. $90 for a couple feet of hose, some I-rings, the t-caps and some washers. Pretty ridiculous but it is warrantied.
Thank you, but like I said I already fixed it. If it lasts the entire 1 year warranty, I can't complain. Still can't believe ford doesn't have a kit, although you can just buy everything seperately. I prefer having the warranty.
Just for future reference the olives are PN: 9k260 (x2) and 9c387 (x1) I think some models have the 9c387 on the back driverside fitting that goes to the tank I would get two of each to be safe or 10 of each and be really safe.
