ESOF Cardone Reman vs Dorman T case shift motor

Okay, I've checked all the fuses, replaced the IWE vacuum on the firewall and pecked the t case motor until it won't shift anymore. Lol time for a new one. Now that the 14 inches if snow have melted! Okay so I have a 2005 f150 xlt supercrew 5.4. I'm looking at two different t case shift motors..the Cardone reman and the dorman brand new. I've heard people say that you have to change a pin in the wiring harness when you replace the motor. According to what I can tell from Dormans website, they say it's an exact fit for easy installation. I don't really wanna mess with changing pins out etc. has anyone used both? Do both require the pin change in the plug? Thanks for the help . Let me ask this since I've never gotten a response. Has anyone ever replaced a t case shif motor with an aftermarket part? If so was it a bolt it on and plug it up or did you have to change the pins in the harness plug?

Anyone? I asked advance auto if it was a direct plug in and they said yes but I know how that goes!

Shift Motor Replacement

I replaced mine about a year ago with a Dorman. Yes you have to pull a few pins out of the OEM motor plug and insert them (in the exact same spot on the Dorman plug) but its no big deal. Use a tiny screw driver or similar tool to release the little barb in the OEM plug while you pull on the wire, then put it into the Dorman plug in the exact same spot. Do one wire at a time and you can't screw up. You don't even need to jack up the truck, plenty of room. Use some non harding gasket sealer or good silicone between the new motor and the transfer case to keep any water out. A dab of electrical grease in the plug is also advised. The Dorman came with the grease already in the plug. I got mine on E-Bay from a dealer (new of course) for $99.00 + shipping. Just take your time and do it. I've been wrenching on Heavy Equpt. to Motorcycles all my life and I can tell ya this little job is like a 1.5 outta 10. Renzo

Appreciate the help brother. I'm going with the Dorman too. Just didn't wanna get into something I could avoid by buying one brand over the other. I hate wiring too. And I hope spring/riding weather gets here soon.
