Question Poll: Hi-back or Lo-back Bucket Seats?

Hey Guys and Gals. I'm in a pickle on which seats to use for my "Lo-Buck Bumpside" project. The truck is a '70 2WD and my other rig is a '73 4x4.

Last year I picked up a pair '70 Mustang high back seats at the swap meet and more recently a pair of '68 Mustang low back buckets from the salvage yard.

I'm leaning towards the high backs for the 4x4 since I'll be bouncing around. However, I think the high backs will be more comfortable for long hauls in the 2WD.

What would you do? High backs or low backs for the '70 or '73?

Well HIO, how about putting hi-backs in both...? I am a huge fan of the hi-backs. I have them in (2) of my 79 bronco's, 2 of my 96 bronco's and plan to put some in my 79 F350 4x4 SC...So, I vote for the hi-backs in both!!

Hi backs in both. Buy another truck to put the low backs in. Make it a cruiser.

I vote for highbacks, that way if you ever get rearended you have some neck protection. And when setting in traffic you can lean your head back and relax, instead of smacking the rear glass.....

Highbacks just look better imo, not to mention comfort and extra support. Im using 2012 dodge ram seats with center consol, in my 79 reg cab. There are no dodge logos either so it not sacrilidge like some might think

Scott79 have those seats ever been recovered? I have the red low backs in my 78 Bronco. But they need recovered. Yours look awesome. I just need to find where I can get the red skanda cloth for the seats.

Yeah I had them re-upholstered a few years back. SMS Fabric is the only place that I have found that has the OEM exact factory matching material.

Sorry for the hi-jack HIO!! Now back to the poll

Jade green low back bucket seat 1979 Bronco xlt

Thank you for the SMS referral but I am still looking for the original xlt jade green type cloth/vinyl covers for the oem low cack buckets I have...I do see that the high backsshown above had a combination of both material on them...Does anyone know of any other sources...I don't know why Jade Green is so hard to find.

All I have found is green leather for low backs. No vinyl option. Dunno what spec green either..."Evergreen" says these guys:

78-79 Ford Bronco (Full Size) Seat Upholstery Complete Set Front Low Back Buckets; Rear Bench 1978, 1979

Otherwise, gotta go custom.

'Went with the highbacks on my 70 for long hauling... the 73 will get the low backs but I plan to mod them with add-on headrests!

I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment, but I really do like the bench seats in my trucks. Of course, they've all been rebuilt and reupholstered...

I know the high backs would be safer but I like the visibility the low backs and benches give. Had both in dents and the bench was way more comfortable.
