I would mount the door and make the outer skin first, then fit the inner pieces to that. Or maybe you could use your other doors for patterns?

Ok I took some good advise from Scott and Tom and did as they suggested. Started with the outside and got my shape right. Then adapt a panel and stuck it in. Thanks guys.

Outside made with fold over lip and set in the opening for fit.

I was lucky enough to find a door panel for F1 to adapt.

Fit pretty well not shown is how we put small brace in the corner on the inside to help with side stiffening.

Curved a new arch and tacked it to fit to cab again. We still have some finish work but not having to build it all save some time.

Looks great, I plan on doing pretty much the same thing for my doors when I get to them. Its great and so much easier to start with the premade panels and build off them for the curve. Keep up the good work.

Wow! That is amazing work. I now wonder how many doors have been thrown away because people thought they were too bad to fix

If I could find the doors, I could probably go into business just rebuilding door bottoms... lol

Nice work!! If I had your skills I could have kept my '47 COE and repaired the rust. I was too intimidated.

When we were making our own cab corners and windshield corner we got them in and were dissatisfied so just cut them back out again and tried again. Thats the beauty of starting with nothing. Everything is an improvement!

Covering my bases with new donor.

Ok its been a while since an update because of old man winter slowing me down to just the small projects such as door insides and brackets. Something that has been worrying me is the 4wd steering setup. My plan was to use a van style Pittman arm since the F 250 and E250 use the same steering box perhaps on a different angle. Well I bought a E350 box truck cab and chassis just for a second option in case i either needed parts or to use as the chassis.

It was running and steering E350 box truck. but seems to have a fuel problem now.

Still working on the doors.

I have found the hardest area for me so far and it seems to be the doors. Some were very bad shape and the hardware missing or broken.since I don't want to come back and do this again in a year I'm doing my 51 and 48 Coe doors now. Do any of you know the difference between those years on the doors . They take a different inside panel. Outer and inner rot but this one not too bad.
Sizing it up before curving .my new slip roll machine not working as well as it should.
Fixing 4 doors takes a lot of metal. Time to reorder some
