Doors 1976 F250 Supercab

I am just planning the next steps for my F250 for when we lose the 16" of snow on the ground and when the temps come up above 32 F, maybe May?

Anyways, I think I need to replace me doors. I cobbled them together using weld in LMC truck door patches, but the fit isn't the cleanest and I can't adjust the doors properly to get the correct fit and door to fender gap. I have been looking at the replacement doors offered by LMC and they are priced very reasonably at around $160 each per door. I am concerned about quality and metal thickness in those doors. Anyone ever used them and what do you think?

If not the best solution, what would you guys do? I could take another stab at the doors, but the lower inner panel has rotted away some and only patched together to support the outer skins. So the outer door thickness is pretty thick. The rest of the doors are mint. I am looking for some ideas? I just can't go to a local Pick N Pull as all of the dentsides local to me have gone to meet their maker over 20 years ago.

I have no personal experience, but the repro doors are hit and miss, some guys love em, some hate them. Although I have heard that without rust protection they'll be rotting in no time.

I personally wouldnt ever use repro doors on my truck. I had one on mine when I bought it ...every time I closed it it sounded like I hit a tin can with a golf club. Not impressed. Have you tried craigslist? I spent almost 6 months trying to find a door for my supercab that wasnt rusted to *****. And in the end (just out of desperation) what did I buy? A door that was indeed rusty as hell. But at least it works and doesnt sound like tin anymore!

SO yeah Id say just keep looking on craigslist or here on fte

I looked at replacement doors and front fenders when I was restoring my truck. They are really thin and built far lighter than the original Ford ones. I would recommend watching for some used doors or patching what you have. IMO it's worth it to pay more for good rust free original Ford doors than the reproductions that are out there now.

Thanks guys. Thats what I was concerned about and you guys have confirmed it. Back to taking another stab at it with patch panels. The rest of the doors are in great shape, just the leading edge and tail edge of the doors at the wrap around.

I will order new patch panels and try miging them in place again.

I appreciate the advice.
