Had a guy ask me a question about the first 3 digits of a 76 F150 4x4 VIN. I was under the impression that the 150 became available in 75 but not as a 4x4, but it did become available as a 4x4 in 76. I don't know if I'm missing it in the Master Parts Catalog or what, but all I'm coming up with for the series codes are F11 for 73-76 F100 4x4's and F14 for 77 F150 4x4's. Anybody have some Ford literature showing the first 3 digits for a 76 150 4x4, maybe has a 76 150 4x4 that wouldn't mind posting their digits, or has a 76 shop manual??? Thanks.
Thanks Numberdummy...that's what I was looking at. And I'm still not seeing a 1976 F150 4x4 code. I see a 73-76 F100 4x4 code, I see a 77-79 F150 4x4 code and I see the corresponding codes for 4x4 cab/chassis trucks...but no 76 150 4x4 codes. I find it odd a truck Ford made, isn't denoted in any of the literature I have, especially the master catalog. Any idea why???
Thanks Fordfanboy that's pretty much what I've deduced, but seeing as I can't confirm legitimacy or originality on the pics I've pulled...I was hoping someone had a piece of literature I didn't.
It would be nice to get a Marti Report and see what it says and how many were built if indeed it is a 76 F150 4x4 or just a simple clerical error and some trucks that were late 76 models that were supposed to be listed as 77 F150 4x4s, were typed as 76.

If you look in the 76 Dealer brochure, the very first page, a couple sentences in, it states 'the new 76 F150 Heavy-Duty 1/2-ton 4x4's that run on regular gas.' So they were definitely out there. I just can't find any reference in any of my literature showing the first 3 digits of the 76 150 4x4. Even Numberdummy's post doesn't show it. I figured if someone knew, it would be him.
Yeah...it appears F14 is ultimately what was used, but like I said earlier, the pics and trucks I've seen I can't validate originality. And I still find it weird, that Ford doesn't list it in any of their catalogs.
