Got a opporunity to purchase a set of nice wheels and tires along with a 54 F100 front straight axle; the bolt pattern on the axle is 5 on 4 1/2 Discs; I wondering if the axle is the same with as a 62 F100 project I'm going to build this summer? I heading out to measure the front axle under my 62 truck; I'll be measureing from outer leaf to outer leaf. Can anyone confirm distance on a 54 model. I assume a 51-56 might be the same and then 57-60, might be same as 61-64.
Thanks
For starters the bolt pattern you stated (5 x 4.5) is not correct for a 54 axle. Should be 5 X5.5 if original. Sounds like someone swapped it out to discs. Not a big deal but make sure the axle is truly a 54. Can't tell you about the distance, etc. as my trucks are asleep for the winter. Make sure you measure spring pad to spring pad, not leaf to leaf.
I didn't think about lenght verse width; I was able to measure my 62 and a 52 F100 yesterday; the width from leaf to leaf was (34 1/4") for 62 model and (30 3/4") I beleive for the 52 model. And yes the guy did a disc conversion on his 64 to allow athat bolt pattern. I also measured the bolts holding the spindles on each (don't know the proper name) and there's about a (1 1/4") difference there as well. I guess the only other option is purchasing the tire combo from him and buying a Speedway disc kit. And I might still purchase his axle setup for a future sell or build.
