I Have To Admit - 4 Wheel Drive

on my 5.0 CC King Ranch is AWSOME!

I've had several 4X4 trucks in the past. All have had issues climbing my driveway, which is steep in snow and ice conditions.

Snow and ice is not something we deal with often in my area of Or-E-Gun. When it does, not much moves around here.

For 3 days now, and about 8 trips, out of the house, I have had no issues climbing or descending the driveway which is covered with 5" of packed snow and ice. They don't plow, or salt around here. We have had several days of freezing rain laced with snow. Never bothered with changing tires or using chains.

I grew up driving in New England, so I know snow and ice.

Cycling from 4X2 to 4X4 is flawless.

Works like a champ! Good Job Ford!

Edit. Can't shovel the driveway as I just had shoulder surgery.

Not sure if the KR has hill descent control or not, but I absolutely love that feature for walking down icy or snowy steep descents. A few months ago, I got caught on the highway in a section, where the road had 50-60 yards of ice around a steep curve. I basically came around the corner and felt the truck start to lose traction, then saw a 6-8 car pile up, along with cars, trucks & suv's sliding into the piled up cars and snow on the shoulder.

The traffic was at a crawl when I got to the scene, were sliding even though they were barely moving. I felt the truck begin to rotate, and as a last resort I threw on the hill decent control. I was amazed at how the trucks computer took over the entire situation and just walked past the spun out traffic and ice, without drama. This was on stock 20" Scorpion ATR's too. IMO that feature should be standard, eventhough I know it's intended propose is to walk down steep inclines off-road.
