7.3 idi swap wiring questions

K I just bought a 1988 f350 parts truck I am swapping the 7.3 and zf5 into a 1994 f150 that was an automatic my question is are the cab wiring harnesses the same from 88-94? I know the dashes look different but wasnt sure about the wiring can I just hook the engine harness to my current cab harness and swap computers? or do I need to swap harnesses if they are interchangeable or do I need to hunt down a harness from a 94 idi truck? I know this engine doesnt need much wiring to run and I could get it to run with the stock gas harness and a little work but I would like to have it all function like its supposed to ie wait to start light a diesel

The short answer is no. The main diff is the bulkhead connector - on 88-91 it is round and on 92-97 it is square.

Idis are mechanical engine s 351s or 302s or 300s in that year are all efi electronic fuel injection. So no it won't plug in but it isn't that hard ti switch everything over if you have all the parts from the ido

I have all the parts from the idi but the idi is a 88 and mine is a 94 so and I gonna need to find a 94 cab harness and engine harness? also if I use the 88 harness would the cab harness hook to an 94 instrument cluster?

Leave the gas harness in and put the diesel harness next to it, you'll need the glow harness that's it just find one of the heavy 10 gauge "key on HOT" to hook the glow system to and for your swap that's about it, You'll have to make a "wait to start light" should be about it. My 78 I left in the gas harness and added the diesel and mine has a E40D so its got a computer so yours will be a breeze.

That's why you need to find the heavy gauge "keyed hot" to hook the glow wire to (on the steering column) then you don't need a silly button just turn the key and "wait to start", The FSS is just the old ignition wire. The dash you cant change one is a speedo cable the other is electronic.....(I think)
