Harrier thanks alot for the links! Ill order that shop book soon. It's just so hard to find the time or money to do muck to it. The wife said it needs to be in the scrap yard!

Open up the photo in photobucket then you will see on the right. "Links to share this photo" click on direct. Then when you are adding a post here, click on the mountain icon and past that link into the box that pops up. (I use ctrl-v to paste)

I hear you. It is taking me forever to restore my truck. I just have to scrape pennies together as I can. Three kids and a wife suck the resources. My truck was my wife's grandfathers, so I get a little more lenience. But she sure would like her garage back.

I just scooped up a 250 myself and also in AL...down south around Dothan! If you look inside the drivers door you MAY be able to make out the VIN which makes it really easy to determine what engine you have LOL, here's mine:

Nice fifty6f250! Really love the 56.. So if my VIN is inside the door, what number are those inside the glovebox door?anyone else using a iPhone to talk? It's hard. I don't have a computer I can use so this gets frustrating.

Mine is a 56, possibly VIN located somewhere else? I'm sure one of the SME's will chime in, but if you have the numbers handy, wherever you got them from, just post them and I'll decode it for ya!

F25 - F250
V - 239 Y-block engine
5 - 1955
K - Kansas City Mo plant
23451 - Production Sequence #

The 4.88 gears will pull stumps but not get you too fast. Those are the gears I have although I have never driven it. My father in law told me he would get it up to 65. But that may be why the engine had to be rebuilt in the late 60's.

The 239 if you still have it. Is the baby of the Y-blocks. (It's what I have) some parts are harder to find. But many you can still get at your local auto parts store.

What are the numbers on the heads? EBV is the 239 That will be on the intake as well.

Great pictures.
