Axle gear swap necessary?

I plan on getting a 6" lift kit and 37" tires this year. I still want to drive it on the highway often but take it mudding on weekends too. Will 4:10 gears work for driving at highway speeds with thus setup or do I need to swap gears?

Truck is 88 F350 with 460 and C6 trans

Is this truck your daily driver, or is it for play?

I drive it daily, but it's for play too. I won't be burying it, but it certainly isn't a street queen that hits a puddle occasionally.

With a 460 the stock gearing ought to work for awhile. What is the current gearing? With a F350 I would assume it has 4.10s already.

I think it has 4:10s already but I'm not positive. I will have to look next time I'm in Lubbock

Ok, well if it's a daily driver, I have several points you may want to consider.

A lift and tires are going to hurt your MPG, and I'm sure it's bad already being a 460 without over drive.

A 6" lift is way too much if you are only putting 37" tires on it, as you can usually fit 35" tires stock with a little bumper trimming. A 2" lift would probably be fine.

With that said, 4.10 is probably a good ratio if you do highway driving a lot without O/D and wheel just a little.
