What's this supposed to smell like?

I was looking for parts on E-Bay and - as usual - a bunch on unrelated crap comes up in the search results.

But this one was more interesting than most. You know how nearly all candles are scented?

What do you think it should smell like?

I won't supply a guess cause when I first got my truck it had the worst odors known to mankind - and that isn't typical or sentimental.

If the shipping were halfway reasonable, I'd be all over that! Linen wouldn't be my first choice of aroma, tho.

I'm thinking 'used top-loader gear oil' or maybe 'brake fluid on the drum dust' as the proper aroma.

Silly, everybody knows that old trucks smell like a mixture of motor oil, gas, sweat, horse hair, and wet dog. You know, like a work shop.

it probably has a "crappy" smell since there is a "Manure" spreader in the pic, if they would have used a 48-50 it probably would smell like Monkey Butt!

That is exactly what mine smelled like when I picked it up. It had been sitting in the PO's barn for almost 6 years. His wife gave it to him for Valentines and he never did anything to it except let it sit and be a home for mice, spiders, and maybe a snake or two. Lucky for me there was no glass in it and it cleaned out pretty well on the open trailer from just outside Little Rock AK back home to Houston (about 450 miles).

Well, my nose doesn't work too well anyway. But that truck in the pic doesn't have the stainless trim around the windshield or window dividers. I'm just sayin...

Bob, I laughed my butt off when I read that. But when I got my truck it smelled worse than that. When the wind came from the direction of where it was parked in the yard it was embarrassing to have visitors nearby. Now it smells like paint, new rubber, gas & Marvel Mystery Oil from the cab tank, and new gear oil. Much better in other words!

Back in the early seventies I bought my '53 in pieces. I found it in a very funky used car lot up in the Santa Cruz mountains. The dealer gave me a good deal, as long as I got it off his lot within a week. He had just had the crank turned, and the new bearings for it were in one of the boxes of engine parts. I managed to put it together and get it driving. I had little mechanical experience. And I only figured out later that the dealer had bought standard size bearings, but the crank had been turned to twenty over. I drove that thing across country from California to Vermont running an engine oil mix that was half STP, hoping that the thick goo would absorb all the shock from the loose bearings. I made it (and later got the whole bearing thing worked out), but for that week of driving, it smelt like a hundred candles burning at one time. Nothing like the smell of paraffin to make every day smell like a holiday....

If it was a Monkey Face I would buy one, after all it is blue. Wife says she has a place for it in my bathroom.

Heheh! Cracked me up, too! I reckon there's a market for that fragrance somewhere out there.
