New member, old truck. :)

Hello all,

I recently acquired a 48 F-1. I've been lurking these forum the last few weeks and learning a lot. I thought I'd say hi and show off a couple pics of the truck. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions in the next few weeks as I get around to making some repairs/adjustments to the truck.

Here's my "new" ride:

Welcome to the board, nice looking truck. Don't worry, you'll be asking a lot of questions but once you get into working on your truck you'll start answering questions.

Welcome to FTE!
Nice truck. What are your plans for it? From those pictures it looks like you can almost just start her up and drive.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Even considering I've barely driven it due to the weather.

As I've been going through the truck, I've determined that it was owned at one time by a family of mud daubers, as I keep finding their nests everywhere.

It's a flathead v8, four-speed. Somewhere along the line it acquired a 9 inch rear end and a 51/52 rear window.

Welcome! Looks like a very solid truck. If you are able, getting it running and driving so that you can enjoy it is more important than pretty.

I didn't even notice the rear window. Good luck with it. Show us more pics when you can.

Thanks. I'll be sure to add more pictures when I get more time with the truck.

Right now I'm working on fixing the things that are not hooked up: the heater, the parking brake, and the windshield wiper.

When it warms up, I'll be replacing most of rubber seals, and the passenger side glass, which is cracked.

Eventually, I'd like to get a fresh coat of paint on it, if only to keep it from rusting.

Welcome! That's interesting about the 51/52 rear window, makes me suspect a cab swap. Is the instrument panel 48-50 or 51-52? It looks to be in better shape than I'd expect in Indiana, did you find it locally?

So that must mean that your brakes, gas tank/lines, carb, and tires are all good to go. Excellent.
