66 4x4 body shot, want new bed+body what year?
Hello again FTE, love this place. I've got a couple 4x4 fords a, 79 and a 66 4x4 f100 w/ twin I beams. The 66 is all crinkled and beat (no rust but beyond repair dents). The running gear is great, no leaks, strong 352, 4x4 works. It is a long bed.
Question, I want to swap out the bed and cab for another cab and bed. What years will work?
Bolt patterns/frame width etc?
All I can foresee a difference is the hole for the transfer case shift lever?
I want to keep it pre- 1966, I prefer the older body style.
Thanks

I dropped my 65 2wd shorty on a 1979 F-150 4x4 shorty chassis a couple of years ago. The cab bolted right on, but when I tryed to mount the bed I had to make a slight modification to the rear of the frame, I should have pix if you 'd like to see it. And after the mod I had to lift the bed 1" to clear. So I grabbed a hadfull of hockey pucks and used those for a mount lift for the cab and bed. Was a really easy swap. I used my old 390 so I had to fab up some mounts as well, but that wasn't a big deal either.

I used a 65 F100 2wd body on my 66 F100 4x4; the 65 was a automatic trans truck, so I had to cut the floor pan out to fit the 4sp and transfer case shifters. Also the radiator core support is a bit different on a 4x4, so save your old one. I can not remember if the inter fenders are different or not. And when I changed out he radiator; I got a radiator for a 2wd and had to have the mounting brackets removed and the core turned around and put back together.

You sure it was a 1965 F100 2WD body and not one from a 1966?

1966 F100/250 2WD uses a different radiator and radiator support than 1965 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD
