yes, wheels in the air, moving the tires left and right ... kinda hard to describe but simple when you are shown how . you want to wiggle them quickly left and right to see where the looseness is.

maybe there's a video on you tube showing the procedure ??? it's the same basic procedure for all vehicles, so it really doesn't have to be a video on ford trucks.

by the way ... both your wheels WILL be pointing in the same direction, that's not what you are checking ... you are looking for just a few millimetres (or less) of play where the various steering parts connect to each other.

If there is a local shop you trust just take it there & have them check the front end. Usually give a written estimate for free or a small set fee. Then if you feel comfortable doing the repairs go ahead & fix it. If not then it's already at shop & they know what's wrong.
