4x4 & Low Range lights come on
This is my wife's 89 Bronco. She said the other day that when she started the Bronco that the 4x4 light came on and the Low Range light was blinking. She pressed the buttons a few times, and they went out. No big deal?
She just called me, said that it happened again and that the magic she did before is not working. She was only a mile from home, so she headed down the road. Basically said it was running like ****e. Also that at one point when she put it in drive, it wouldn't move.
This is all her "terminology", I haven't seen it yet. Any ideas of what I'm walking into when I get home?
Thanks

The description has all the earmarks of a transfer case shift motor that is out of alignment. The worst case scenario, is that the chain in the t-case will be snapped requiring a T-case rebuild. Best case scenario, the shift motor is misaligned and you can remove it, rotate the armature back into the 2WD position and reinstall it. As for dealing with the appeasement of an angry wife, I recommend a nice dinner, flowers and a bottle of good wine. Best case scenario, she gets tipsy enough to forget the whole thing.

Feeding the wife booze did not help
Seeing as this is happening "randomly" when the truck is started, thoughts on it could computer related, since it's an electronic 4x4 engagement?
Scenario of when it has happened: Drove a mile to the store with no issue. Came back out, started truck & 4x4 light came on.

Ok, I experienced what is going on.
When the key is turned, there's a buzzing and clicking sound from behind the passenger kick plate. Guessing that's where the module is. The 4x4 lights then come on. Put it in Neutral and disengaged Low Range. Then turned off 4x4. Each time I started it this morning this happened.
Going to disconnect the module for now.
