Hey Gang, time for another round of: What's wrong with this truck?
#17
Gary, those are F-1 fenders.
He couldn't make up his mind which way he wanted the inside door handles to run:
If this was a truck that showed up at a FTE meet or local cruise in and had a few of these "problems" that could be overlooked, very few of our trucks are near perfect. But these clowns that tout these trucks as "no expense spared" and "professionally restored" and then have very obvious flaws are ,IMO, boarding con artist. They have no idea what is correct for these truck, they just have something slapped together so they can make a quick buck.

People call Rat Rods "Traditional" is in "As they built it back in the day" - I was alive back in the day and the closest thing that I saw were race cars, roundi - rounds and drag strip
Yes there were cars that needed paint, rust repair etc but they were works in progress, they didn't have wrenches as part of the suspensions or steering system.
I think you salesperson is suffering from **** Cranal Inversion
I don't like shiney paint cause you have to wax it - A few years back I liked the old faded worn original paint - That stopped when I saw an article on how to do faux patina
I'm building a Truck right now that is flat black - It will be different shades of flat black as I do spot repairs - Then I'll paint it semi gloss black
Build it like you want it

Nice catch Bob. I also didn't know what to think about the odd color choice for the steering column and shifter. Seems like they went out of their way to detract from the cab aesthetics.
As part of my duties as FTE-CSI wannabe, I dropped a note to the seller asking about the bed wood and box level. And why the box side walls weren't embossed? I'm sure an outfit that sells 2000 cars a year will give me the time of day.

That being said, it is a nice looking truck. Shoot, I could fix those issues. But not after paying $18K......

Maybe it is just me, tired and cranky, but the tailgate looks like it was painted with a brush and the drivers door has a bunch of dents on the inside bottom corner. The duct from the heater going to ???, the sloppy door handles, extra holes in the dash, the bed wood warped badly, and the current bid is almost 18K but the reserve isn't met yet.

Wow... So many problems or errors... No Expense Spared
- Nose Handles needed re-chroming, not painting red
- Grille spacing is off... second to bottom looks low on Driver's side.
- Outside Door handles angles need to be corrected
- Bed is leaning backwards... rear fenders looked to be lined up with body not bed. Bed cross members should be metal...
- Tailgate chains are not correct... These have a "S" end and Chain Spring Link... No covers..
- Taillight brackets look to be tilted down wards.
- Driver's side door frame has a hole in it.
- Dash extra holes...
- Color of Headlight switch
- Choke should be next to key switch. Leaving an extra hole in dash.
- Paint on Column, Shifter and Parking Brake Handle.
- Passenger side door handle wrong position.
- Heater looks like it's in the center of the cab not on passenger's side like I've seen them.
- Heater hose laying on head... Looks like the heater core holes are empty in stock location.
- Under hood wiring mess... Including Negative battery cable laying on top of Positive battery post.
- Wood bed... Don't fit correctly... Not bolted down... No End cap...
- Bed supports look to be wood, not the metal once of the time.

I agree with you and think the same thing about the door inspection panels too.
