1950 Ford F1 Resurection

I have a 50' F1 that has been sitting for a l-o-n-g time. Initial work is to restore the brake system.
I am looking for suggestions on the best brake /master cylinder kit?
And I need help to identify a dual master cylinder that will work in this application (I think I used a mustang dual unit on my 35 some time ago).
I'd prefer to stick with Made in USA parts.
Thank you in advance for your help.

This subject has probably been covered in detail along the way, but the forum requires us newbies to submit a few posts.....

i have all four drums still on my '49. i used a mustang dual master for 4 drum application, think maybe it was a 1967? if you plan to convert to disc front or disc all around, that affects your choice of master. i got my master from napa, i don't rem number, but it was too difficult a search. i'm sure others will be along to fill you in. dick r.

All parts should be readily available through Napa or any of the repro parts vendors. Also look into the dual master from a Fox body Mustang. They reservoir is clear and is easily seen when refilling.

Welcome aboard! Nice to see another '50 joining up.

Hmmm... Brakes... I'm assuming you are starting by working on the brakes because they don't work too well. If you are starting from scratch I'd really consider adding front disc brakes to your '50. There are conversion kits out there from Summit & others.

If you have front discs & rear drums then you have to find a master cylinder to match. I believe a '68 or so mustang has front discs & rear drums. Mustang parts can be pretty reasonable as there is a big following & numerous suppliers.

Good luck over there in California - Post some pics when you get a chance.

I can't access the attachment bar when posting to post pictures. Assumed from the dialog that I need to vet as a new member first?

I've decided to go back to original at this point, going to leave the body in as found condition and restore the mechanical components. It come with a 239 8BA that has been machined and needs assembly. Thanks all.

One easier way to post pics is to join the site for $20. Then you can post directly from your hard drive and almost all the annoying advertising is eliminated.

Good luck over there.

Ya can post pic's in your first post. Anyone can.

Could we see some pictures? Here is how.

But I got ta say becoming a supporter is the fastest and easiest way to post pics right from
your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Here's a tutorial Bob put together: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/67...-pictures.html Bob's link is not working. Can someone in the know tell me why?

How to upload pictures to the FTE Forums. - YouTube. Thanks Sam Rusty_Old_F250. Best we can find is that this video was done by Gundown64

Another option is to have a free Photobucket account. You can upload the pic links easily from there.

O-Tay, album created with some pictures.

History: It has 63' Ca Plates, it was last licensed in the mid 70s It is rumored to have lived in Compton, Ca. just down the street from the Sanford and Son junk yard.

Future: Gonna go with the original look. Will restore the chassis and mechanical parts to provide a reliable driver. It is a 98RC and I have an 8BA to rebuild with the machine work already done. Mostly complete, resto parts and a few items needed for the interior. Plus a set of original wheels if anyone close by in Central Ca has a set to sell?

Mostly a bare bone pickup atypical of the 50's. It has accessory 2nd wiper, V-8 engine, light duty 3 speed toploader trans. Not sure the rear axle ratio, but assume it to be the stock Dana 41 with 3.93 gears. Very little rust; at the tail of the RH fenders and in the steel bed other wise pretty clean. Some little bruising here and there but the body is relatively straight.

Looking forward to starting this project when my 30 Roadster is back together. Will be collecting parts during the interim.
