Tire size 275/70R18 Vs. 275/65R18
I am looking at tires for my 2010 F250 Super Duty and like the reviews on here about Cooper Atires. My stock tires are 275/70R18. Cooper ATP's come in 275/R65/18. From what I understand, this works out to be a little over a 1/2" difference is sidewall height. Discount Tires has this tire for $163.00. They also have the A/T3 tire in my correct size for $196.00 and the STT for $282.00. Of course I like the $163.00 price and was wondering in the 1/2" shorter sidewall height would make any difference?

As long as the load index is 121, and the speed rating is comparable to OEM then they should be fine. A ply-rating of E is an easy way to check the load rating if for some reason you don't want to look the number up on a chart, multiply by 2, then compare the the RGAWR on the VIN sticker. Some companies make the 275/70 an E and 275/65 a D, but then Nitto makes the 275/65 as an E. Always check the load index, and never exceed the pressure or weight rating on the sidewall.
Edit: If it's the Cooper ATP that specs to 275/65R18 116T OWL, then no, it's not a sufficient tire for a SD.
