I also boxed both sides of the frame I put the old xmember to the front of the tank
I was concerned that the changed xmember would cause frame flex or ?

I should say that this is close to what Dave(drptop70ss) did I may have a little more boxing or maybe less and I need to give him the credit for this tank idea and the jag cap

View from front to rear of truck.
your filler hose looks to be in side the bed at the area that it goes vertical I'm old so I could be wrong

Yea I downloaded all my pictures in Photobucket to my computer. No need for PhotoBucket anymore for FTE. Really like the ability to post from your computer/phone/ tablet.

ok I found a pic of the bed

I later drilled another hole for the tank breather just to the left of the filler hole.
the 49 has a sub frame around the perimeter (note the rivets)of the bed so at that filler hole I doubled the frame and drilled a 21/2" hole

am I skipping anything, Dan gave me the gas cap so I didn't get the sheet metal off the jag I made a pattern from cardboard of the cap mounting area did a lot of layout on the fender temp mounting it to the bed so on.
this is the under side of the fender

fuel filler in fender use a jag cap
I used a saber saw to cut the fender for the filler then used the drop piece for the mount I spaced it with a 7/8" strip of 18 gauge welded it up(I think it was 7/8 maybe 3/4)you can see the recess

I cant find a pic of my filler hose/breather take my word it was a lot of work.
I got the filler hose from an online co that makes the hoses cant remember the name
made a holding bracket that supports the filler/breather hose that bolted to the fender bolts like a double nut thing

Jag fuel cap

Yea Roy I'll need to have it zig zag around the bed. And I've got to watch wheel clearance as well.

In answer to another of your questions, my tank is mounted on the bottom of the frame, even has a 3/4 spacer between the tank and lower frame rail. It still is VERY close to the wood of the bed.

Reading Tacson's post he is talking about a maverick tank going out the back under the bed. Isn't a Maverick's tank the same as a Mustangs?

my hoses are just below the wood in the bed my bed has a sub frame of wood also so I have an extra 3/4" over the truck frame
I don't know about maverick/mustang tank just read about them
as for tire clearance moving the tank as far to the rear helped I have a good size bracket in back of the tire

Thanks Roy for all your help. I googled the maverick tank and it's NOT like the Mustang's.
