08 F150 Intermittent Dash Brake Light

The brake light on my 08 F150's dash comes on and off whenever it feels like it. Have had the brakes inspected and they are good and the e-brake switch is okay. Is there a fluid level switch in the master cylinder? The level is okay but maybe this switch could have a bad attitude? Does anyone have any experience with this problem?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I know you said the e-brake switch is good but on my last truck I had this problem and setting and releasing the brake made the light go out. I came to the conclusion that the spring that returns the petal to the off position was probably worn.

My 06 does the same thing. If I pull the E brake pedal back it goes out. I always used the E brake when I put my truck on ramps to change the oil. Now I don't use it and just chock the rear tire. With 187,000 miles and changing oil every 5000 miles, that's a lot of E brake uses.

I changed the front brakes on my 2007 f-150. When I compressed the pistons on the calipers I forgot to uncap the master cylinder(I know guys. I've changed 100s of brakes. This was the firs time I forgot).anyway as a result my brake light stays on. A mechanic told me it could cost a thousand dollars to fix. I DONT have any problems other than the light staying on. Good luck.

Disconnect the fluid level switch on the master cylinder and see if the light goes out.

Get a new (honest) mechanic.

This is an old thread, but a common problem. One of the plugs on the back of the instrument cluster can cause intermittent "e-brake light on" illumination. There are you-tube videos showing/demonstrating the loose plug & light. I'm not sure of a cheap fix for the problem.
