Truck started running rough and then died.

2004 F250 stock. Changed oil last Sunday. Fuel filters about a month ago. Turns over and seems like it will start and then doesn't. Its like its not getting fuel. No check engine lights. I recently bought torque pro, but have never used it. I have the OBD11 scanner also. Do I just plug the OBD11 into port and then check for codes? Power on ignition or off? Turning truck over? I am a newbie on this engine stuff. I have done ball joints and brakes on this truck , but never any engine problems. Truck is about 2 miles from my house in a church parking lot with my goose trailer hooked up to it. Was going to be a good day of hunting, but never got out of town. Hoping it just might be fuel filters and I can get it going when it gets light. Any suggestions on where to start? Not sure how to use torque pro. Thanks for any ideas.

You need to scan the truck for codes. The key will need to be turned on after the scanner is plugged into the OBDII port. You don't need try to start the truck just to read codes. You need to read up on the torque pro. I have a feeling we're going to need some engine numbers to see what's going on.

Don't change filters just yet. Check your ficm volts while cranking. Also get Icp Ipr and fpw while cranking and post here. I have no idea about how to use your torque app.

Check fuses and the wiring to the fuel pump and fan clutch.

Under dash (fuse 22, 40)

Under the hood, drivers side (fuse 07 and relay 302):

You might also want to pull the fuel filter lid under the hood and see how fast the secondary filter fills up. It should fill VERY quickly.

Not getting fuel to front filter when I turn on key. Not sure how to tell if it would be a fuse.

Fuel pump is located on frame rail under drivers seat. Turn key on and stick your head under truck and see if you can hear the pump run ( hum)

You could always pull the fuse and look. If you can't see through it, try a spare fuse.

Bismic gave you the locations.

Thanks for all the help. I got her going. Checked all the fuses and still had no fuel going to secondary filter. I went and got a new fuel pump and she is running fine now. A messy, stinky job as the fuel tank was full. A few questions though. The new fuel pump assembly has a new harness and only 2 electrical connectors. The old one had 3. Why was this changed? Better or worse? Do you think this was causing low fuel pressure? Will I notice any differences? Again thanks for all the help.

They removed the fuel heating element from the HFCM so they needed less connections.

The fuel heater was deleted in 2005 or thereabout, leaving the WIF and power supply. You might want to find the fuse for the heater and pull it so the wires are dead at the connector.
