This is the screenshot shown above, but with the non-EX #'s shown with a green circle. When I got to the bottom of the pic I realized I should have circled the EX ones - it would have been a lot easier. So, while this part was designed in 1975, it was still being used in the 80's. In fact, there's one part designed in 1962 that will still being used 20 years later.

Another approach for you is to braze it on. I didn't think I could get the casting hot enough to take w/o warping the pan, but I think you could with a sheet metal adapter.
That's another idea that I'll have to keep in mind.

I've brazed valve covers with good success. And, you can smooth it with a file when done. I'd seriously consider it for Dad's truck if the adapter was stamped. As said, I don't think I can get the casting hot enough with my MAPP gas torch. But, it sure works well on just sheet metal.

We tapped mine for 1/4-20. It is cast as well. I think it came from your 85. I plan on using the permatex Ultra Blue to seal mine. I have some loctite (I think 545) to seal the threads with. It is a product used in boiler making and steam fitting.

Gary, you have a 9" rear in that truck correct, see how many B7 PNs you find on it? Introduced in 1957.

Bruno - Yes, that came from the '85. As did the dizzy we curved.

Bill - I'm sure you are correct, but I'm too tired (lazy?) to look that up.

All - Fought my media blast cabinet all day. It has always had poor feeding of the media, as Bruno and Rogue_Wulff know, but today I hit my limit. Something's gotta change on that score. Plus, the light went out again.

The media blaster problems. Sounds like it has the same problems the one I use where my dad works. Always having to hold your hand over the nozzle to build up pressure to get the media to come flying out, light always fails. POS!

I thought we talked about a vibrator for the hopper?

You are right about the gasket maker.
But like Matthew I would probably use it.

Matthew - Yes, those are the problems.

Jim - Are you saying 515? Why not a gasket maker and a thread locker? I need those things anyway, so.... As for the vibrator, yes, we did. But I'm not sure it would solve the problem. I've been shaking it and it helps, but tomorrow il going to add a lot more media and see if that helps.

I actually find that I'm using Permatex 51813 (with primer)
It does work on threads but has less breakaway strength than a threadlocker.

Yeah, you'll sometimes come across Dx's as well as Cx's in there... but not real often... I'll have to go upstairs and see if I can find it in the 70s catalog, was hoping ND Bill would respond before I got home.... but my guess is that unique component is available only with the oil pan assembly.... but if we can find an actual part number (yes, that will be an Engineering ID number), we can ask the NOS places....

If it were me, I would be inclined to purchase some generic gasket material (Fel-Pro Part. No. 3060, I got some from NAPA and used it for my T18's PTO cover) that has several sheets (all slightly smaller than 8.5 x 11) of varying thicknesses and material, custom-cut one out, install it and seal it all up with some sort of oil-resistant sealer....

Here ya go, you like Amazon....

OK, I took a quick look in the 73-79 truck parts catalog (I have copies of all of Bill's PDFs) and didn't find it in the 5.8L/6.6L engine section (text)... there is a chance that a part like that is listed elsewhere, in a place common to several engines - generally at the start or end of a section... so that will take some more work.

Having the computer search these gigantic PDFs takes a LONG time and doesn't work real well in my experience....
