Unhook battery to weld bed?

I bought a used 07 250 and the previous owner had used the bed as a drill platform for his bussiness apparently because there are drill holes all over the bed. I have a mig welder and thought I would fill in these holes by welding them. My question is should I disconnect the batteries before I start welding on the bed since I will be putting current to the chassis?

Probably not a bad idea. Also keep the ground close to where you are welding.

Hmm, never thought about that. I did some welding on my rear bumper without any problems, but better to be safe than sorry

Unhook to be on the safe side.

The biggest issue is when someone puts the ground clamp at one end of the vehicle, but welds on the other.
