'98 Eddie bauer Expediton 5.4L consuming oil prematurely?
Hi,
My '98 EB 5.4L has 98,000 miles and it has started "consuming" engine oil. I have been changing oil dilligently every 3000 miles and the truck has NOT been driven roughly. Every 3000 miles almost two-thirds of the oil is gone. Is this normal for these trucks at this mileage? Any idea of what may be going on?
A mechanic indicated that it may simply be the crud sticking to the rings that prevents them from expanding fully causing oil to seap and be consumed and that I should run an engine cleaner and change the PCV. I changed the PCV and got it tuned, but no difference (have not run the engine cleaner yet).
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks
