ok here goes.....new member but have been reading this forum for a couple years and I think its the best one around.
thinking I had a one in a million luck streak with the 6.0, I now have the issues common to it with some exceptions.
history on it, 2007 f250 6.0 128k miles, regular oil changes, oasis report on hand to verify, never had a issue until two days ago
on the highway at 70mph, heard a ticking sound from engine bay, went away, approx. 1/2 mile later running rough and began white out exhaust. exited and called a tow. it is in fact smoke with diesel smell out of tailpipe. don't have software to diagnose so used a lot of info from here to start out. ruled out head gasket due to clean oil, coolant and in fact white smoke. no one local to test injectors, so I have them sent out. pulled egr/oil cooler and flow testing shows they are still good, also voltage at ficm is good. so,.......hopefully someone has had this experience and can shed light. no hydrolocking, compression is fine across the board. runs rough upon start up and smokes. hopefully this is enough info and thank you in advance

Typically when you have a head gasket go on these engines there is no cross contamination of the fluids, that is to say no coolant in the oil, the signs of bad head gaskets is almost exclusively puking coolant from the degas bottle, this is due to the fact that the combustion chamber pressures are so much greater than that of the cooling system that you have gases of combustion passing the sealing surface of the head gaskets into the cooling system where the coolant pressure isn't high enough to do the same.
You would be well served to get yourself some gauges that read live data, like the scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like dashboss for IOS devices or torque pro for android.
turns out to be worst case scenario, lifter locked in bore and cant pull it. so with having to pull motor and rebuild I located a local guy with a LOW mileage 03 complete motor running in wrecked 250 with all service docs. I do believe if memory serves that some sensor locations were changed along the production years so if I snag the harness with motor should it be a easy swap out?
planning on rebuilding the old one, but bulletproof the crap out of it when I have more time to spend on it.
the locked lifter bent pushrod causing rocker to break
believe me I WISH it was just a internal head issue, I was hoping that's what it was. ill probably just rebuild this one since its 07, go with upgrades and call it done. after all its only money right? lol
