Just practice a little, I'm sure it'll be fine.

That's what one gets for trying to engineer something they're not supposed to using parts that aren't designed to do the job.

He mounted a front mount rack behind the cross member or a rear mount rack in front of the cross member. Only way to fix is to get the proper orientation rack, or I suppose the correct spindles front/rear steer.

Now that's kinda funny. It reminds me of a car I had in high school. After a friend rebuilt my manual transmission for me, the speedometer only worked in reverse. I took it to an AAAmco dealer who charged me for a new trans, but it never did fix the problem. I hope your friend gets it sorted out without to much trouble.

I used to drive a tractor on the farm when I was a kid that was like that. My old man and my uncle thought they would suprise my grandad with power steering on the old *****hutt. They surprised him all right. Problem was they left it that way and I was the one who had to run it. Tell your friend not to worry. After a couple of years it becomes second nature. Wait a minute..... Thats why I didn't pass my drivers the first time....
