There are several kits available to clean and seal a tank. I used one from KBS (panel truck tanks are not cheap like pick-ups). The epoxy coating leaves a nice hard finish on the inside of the tank and stops rust.

If I were going to replace my tank, I would buy a poly tank. The repro steel tanks I've seen don't usually say a thing about what material they are made of. Plain steel isn't going to cut it. Terne- (lead) coated metal is the standard for OEM's but I don't see any mention of this in the catalogs. Galvanized is so-so with gasohol.

New Gas Tank

Greetings,
I am in a similar situation with the gas tank in my 1950 F-1. Can anyone recommend where to purchase a new (behind the seat) tank that is made in the U.S. ??
Thanks

LMC has them for 200 and Classic Haulers for 275, but don't say if made in US.

I would replace the tank for no other reason than for all the room it takes up in the cab. With the tank gone you can move the seat farther back...
