For three months I have slowly and gradually been tuning a new Summit 600 cfm vs carb. It is on a hp 300, so I knew it would need some tuning and dialing in. From the time of installation to now I've had problems starting the truck when it was hot. I thought that issue would vanish with the proper calibration. Neither float level, jets, idle air bleeds, nor any other adjustment has helped.
Now when I speak to Summit there is no warranty. Research turned up the same issue with the original carb, the 4100 autolite, which the Summit copied. I thought with the redesign they would have eliminated that problem. Whoops.
I would start with your own comment that it has trouble when hot.
Off the top of my head questions would be, is there a reason that it might be vapor locking? Is there a place where the fuel lines are in close proximity to a heat source? Is there insulation between the carb and intake manifold?
Why is the hot engine affecting it?
