Has anyone used this product as an undercoat for rust inhibitor? I'm thinking about using it on my 78 F-250 daily driver before she is pulled off the road for restore. Seems like a pretty good product that can be used on everything!!?? Pros/cons?

i have not used it as undercoat, but I thought this might help: I installed a new brake system on my 77 f250 this winter, including a new master cylinder. I finished the install of the master cylinder at night. The truck is stored under cover, but living in the Pacific Northwest, winters are rather damp. I made the mistake of not painting the master cylinder before install. Woke up the next morning to finish a few things and I was horrified to see my brand new master cylinder with quite a bit of surface rust on it. The weather was just above freezing, so painting at this point was not an option. I used a rag and sprayed/wipe a number of coats of fluid film on the master cylinder. I haven’t touched it in 5 months. The master cylinder looks brand new! I am planning on degreasing/cleaning the fluid film off and painting the master cylinder. But for rust prevention on my master cylinder, this product worked awesome!

good luck!!

I don't have a lot of experience with it buy my neighbour swears by it. He gave me a spray can so I used it on the inside of the front bumper I installed on my truck. Also used it on my lawn tractor deck. Haven't had it on either long enough to provide any meaningful feedback. But my neighbour is a pretty smart guy who has a lot of experience with vehicles.

I read a study years ago on the stuff done in Maine by the highway department. The conclusion was that fluid film cut down on rust related maintenance and prolonged the average lifespan of their equipment another 3-5 years.

Regular applications of tranny fluid thinned with acetone, etc does pretty much the same thing. Tranny fluid has rust inhibitors in it. The Fluid films a little more environmentally friendly.

You can buy it in a spray can, or I have bought it in a gallon pail and spray it like an undercoating

Thanks- I ordered the complete kit with air gun, flex nozzles, gallon of fluid film, misc other items and 1 spray can. Already used up the spray can on all my door hinges, hood hinges, hood latch, bolts etc... Stuff is awesome. Hood pops open again now too! Lol
