Where to mount ignition coil?
Where do you guys mount your ignition coils? I have a '78 F150 4wd, with a 400, 4 speed. I have a Nostalgic Air unit. I bought new wires and a new MSD Blaster 2 coil. I rigged up a short bracket mounted to the left of the dizzy on an existing bolt. It looks bad here and it definitely gets in the way when trying to get to dizzy hold down bolt. I just wanted some options of where to mount. I'm thinking closer to the passenger side firewall to be out of the way and closer to the solenoid. I have a tach adapter, but the wire is plenty long enough to reach there. I'm not sure if the coil wire from my spark plug set will reach that far. What do you suggest?

The coil for my 302 mounts in front of the carb to the side( passenger side) it near about rubs the valve covers. I don't know if a 400 has a threaded hole right there for one. If you mount it to your firewall how would you run your coil wire to the distributor. That would be a long wire.

I'm changing out my valve covers today. Not sure if there is a threaded hole near the right cover, but will check today. I would hate to use one of the valve cover bolts. Before the a/c install, it was to the right of the dizzy, but now the compressor takes up that space. I will try to get a pic if I can to show my layout for suggestions.

Yes, that's where it is now. I did not know that was the factory location though. It seems so crowded in that area. Today I found a mounting tab above the a/c compressor that should work very well. Where it is now, it is pointed diagonally downward towards the block. MSD instructions say it should be mounted as close to straight up as possible. This should work nicely. Thanks for the input.
