Holes in metal line behind shock tower

Well I'm in the middle of replacing my shock towers and after getting the passenger side off I noticed a metal line running along the frame rail which goes to a black canister in the front and I'm guessing goes to the gas tank in the back. There part that was behind the shock tower was touching the metal line and has created about 4 little holes in the line. My question is what is this line for and is it important that i replace it or is there someway that i can just patch it?

Sounds like a vacuum thing or something for emissions.

It is just a vapor return line. I would just cut the tube and side some rubber hose in place of the bad metal

Thank you for the quick reply. I will just go ahead and patch it. Is there anyway to add a pic?
