Try here.... US Environmental Protection Agency
People may be weary of offering legal advice... It is illegal to tamper with any EPA mandated emission control device.

True, but in some places, like Colorado, failing the emissions will keep you from renewing your license plate. An out of date plate is pretty hard to hide and the testing agencies are required by law to report the failure to the state. I'm not sure that altering the emissions and then making it factory again every couple of years is worth the possible gain. Personally, I would rather take my chances on a speeding ticket.

Believe it or not there are a lot of posters on these diesel forums that say they do just that. Put it back to stock for the annual or biannual inspection. If it's only the DPF/DOC (CAT) pipe it can be changed in a couple hours, probably less after you've done it a couple times.

LOL, I hear Ya. Im 41 and body doesn't like it much but I can still get it done in about an hour. That's with smoke (cigs) and beer breaks, lol. 4 total bolts, 2 hangers, easy job. And if you do it once a year for inspection the bolts are easy.
But your choice of course, if you don't like the idea of it don't do it.

Very few if any shops will now do it. Again though it is four bolts. Not a big deal just need a good set of tools. Mostly because one bolt on the DPF is hard to reach. The hangers just slide out but are kinda stubborn, that's why you spray them. If I remember right you are in Denver, to far for me to come help but Im north of Amarillo, feel free to PM if you need anything.
