2001 f250 v8 5.4 wont start
Good day ladies and gentlemen.
i joined this forum last year i believe , made a few post and lurked.
since that time i have lost old account name and password..lol
i need to write those thiongs down i guess..... anyhow.
my truck would not start this morning, very cold night here.
it has power, all lights came on and a ding ,ding. but once i turned ignition , nothing....except for a couple of clicks, towards the right front of truck, passenger side.
is that my starter?..
if so is it expensive to fix?
bad time of year , im broke...lol
thanks in advance.

There are several steps you need to make to isolate your problem.
With the headlights on, turn the key to start the truck, if the lights go out , or get real dim, inspect all of the battery cables for corrosion and swelling or discoloration as this causes a lot of resistance.
Cold weather is hard on a battery, especially an older one.
Check the battery charge for 12 volts , I should have mentioned that first.

I would certainly check your battery cables. make sure all connections are free of corrosion. cables aren't cracked or broken. If the battery is strong, and the cables are good; this may be a sign of a starter starting to fail. usually they will "bail you out" few times before they go for good.
