Successfully towed the ole' Chevy home

This was my dads truck and when I bought the fx4, I saw the opportunity to bring it home. It's a 72' 3/4 ton camper special. I was worried about towing it with a 1/2 ton but it pulled really well overall. Total about 550 miles. Kept it about 60mph loaded and 65mph empty. Got right around 12mpg. Had to be real easy on the brakes/following distance etc.. because there's none on the trailer. More confident now in the fx4 than ever. On the other hand, I'll be lucky to get the Chevy off the trailer...lol

Would love to fully restore it but realistically, I hope to freshen up the motor, get some exhaust on it and go from there. Who knows what's down the road. My dad and I redid the interior and had the tranny rebuilt when he was still around so it will be great to get done whatever I can to keep her goin.

Yeah, that is nice that it is a Truck you and your Dad worked on together, Definitely Freshen it up and take your time from their on, if later you fully Restore than so be it but that costs lot's of money even though your Dad is worth every Penny.... $$$ is hard to come by for a Project, you know what I mean ?? Very Cool... Thanks for sharing, it's always nice to see a survivor Truck.

The orange and white is my favorite color combo for those trucks, great to see you'll be hanging on to it and putting some miles on it. Sounds like your FX4 towed it beautifully. Congratulations

Took the rig to the scales the next day. She weighed right at 12,500lbs minus 1 wife, 2 daughters, 1 friend, luggage, and one floor jack. Oh and by the way... Happy New year!!

My dad got the ol Fairlane in 1965, it was my first car. The 79 F150 he bought new. I guess I can't get rid of either one!

It's great to see you still have that connection to your dad.
