Finally got the order in

I submitted my order for a 2014 F250 on 13 Dec and am now doing the waiting game…. I’ve contacted the dealer a few times to inquire about the DORA and no one seems to have a clue. Kinda frustrating when I seem to know more about the workings of Ford than most salesmen I’ve run into. Do they pull them off the street, give them a 2 hr. briefing and expect them to be helpful? A necessary function I suppose.

Anyhow, some of what I ordered:

Silver 2014 F250 supercab 4x4 with the venerable 6.2

XLT interior pack, 18”wheels, man hubs, 3.73 lock, skidplates, camper & 5th pack, upfitter, remote start, Tonneau,Bi-fuel.

I thought long and hard over this package. I absolutely loved the power of the new 6.7but the level of complexity scared me off and the fact I didn’t actually needthat kind of power anymore. The 6.2will do fine. I’m going to use my cabover camper a few more years then get a 20 – 23” Lance or Arctic fox TT.

My 92 F250 IDI served me well over the last 20+ years, Iexpect this 6.2 will be the same!

I'm sure you know this already, but if the order went in on the 13th and it is "clean", then by now you should have a VIN. If by now you don't even have the DORA then I suggest you stop by the dealership and find someone who knows a little more than just the salesperson who took the order.

The salesperson I dealt with was clueless and I found that by making friends with the fleet guy I had more information about my truck's status than I needed.

Good Luck, and Congrats!

I went with silver myself and get compliments all the time. Need to post pixs when she comes in. Silver is easy to keep up with and always looks clean. I am very pleased and I am sure you will be. As to keeping an eye on the build and delivery status the dealership will be a waste of time. If you search this forum you will find info regarding registering online directly with Ford and getting feedbacks that are very accurate. Best of luck.

Powelligator said it - "the fleet guy"
That's who you need to talk to.
I dealt strictly with Bill Huff who is the Master Certified Fleet Sales guy in Hillsboro, Oregon.

From an Email;
"5. cable lock-- I hate to say this but, in fifteen years you are the only person that has asked me about that. I don't know if it can be on the right side or not. I will see what I can find out and have the answer on Sunday."
He had the Answer on Sunday.

I ordered mine Dec. 19 but I guess the factories are closed until after New Years to reduce inventory. It'll probably take an extra week for any info. and delivery of the truck. My dealer said it usually takes three weeks for a VIN. Whether that's accurate or not I'm not sure.

It's hard to believe - but you guys ordered in the final couple of weeks that Ford is accepting orders for F250 & F350 trucks.

They start accepting orders for the 2014 F-350's January 15th and production is slated to begin on March 17th.

When I did the build and price on ford.com and also the build sheet the dealer gave me says 2014. Are they taking orders for 2015 models in January?
Being they're 6.2 liters, I don't think it makes any difference.

The 2015's are the same.
We did well.
The 14's will be a short run small number production and they will be worth several million dollars each in a few months.

In that case I'd better buy two.

Yes the last day to order a 2014 in December 31, 2013.

What I meant when I said "hard to believe" is that it's not able to order a 2014 truck in 2014.

That is all - no hidden meaning or message - congrats on your new trucks !

You could probably order a 2015 if you can wait a little longer for it.

I heard somewhere recently that supercab won’t be offered for 2015 so I knewI had to get my order in pretty soon if I wanted that configuration. According to Donlan the last day to get orders in for 2014 MY is 31 Dec 2013, Ford goeson vacation 23 Dec, so I felt pretty safe with 13 Dec. Went by the dealer today and they confirmed my order is in scheduling! Other than that I agree thedealer is pretty much useless and will track the order progress on-line!

This site has been a huge help and yes pictures will be provided when the truck arrives, sometime mid Feb I'm thinking...

Congrats Bmcush, I just bought a 2014 SD CC 4x4 6.2L Lariat 172WB 3.73's Ingot Silver also. Boy I couldn't be happier. Like others said Silver is so easy to keep clean and I made the mistake of going with a 13 Kodiak Brown/Adobe F150 and boy that was a huge PITA and I am not 19 anymore..
I am glad I found this truck because it was only one in 3 states and had all the options I wanted on it. Your better off dealing with Sales MGR or GM if there truly concerned about service and keeping you happy. Good Luck and Congrats!!
