2nd coolant tank hose

so i have checked the 6.0 bible and the second hose off of the degas bottle goes to the egr section on the intake manifold. i assume (and dont wanna truly make an *** outta myself hence the question) that i can block this off at both sides due to my egr being deleted. my assumption is that this is simply an expansion line to relieve egr cooler coolant pressures due to the rapid temperature rises?
if im correct what do people do to plug it tank side duct tape? manifold i will install a plug.

yes but the heat exchange between the oil cooler is WAY less than an egr cooler. my question is spurred by a picture i saw of a truck that didnt have this line installed. granted there was much more in the engine bay than a stock truck and its possible he had a remote oil cooler i didnt notice. im just curious if this hose is "only" needed for the egr, in which case ill delete, or if its necessary as a vent for the whole system.
it would be nice to have one less object in the way of everything if possible.

If you do block it off any vapor in the block will not have
a place to return to the degas bottle. It would be like blocking
a steam return line on some other engines. Steam builds up
and forces the coolant down leading to hot spots.

Do you really want to try that?
Don't think for one second that it won't happen. The temps
at the cylinder walls is a lot higher that at the ECT sensor.

Thanks for the info, that's exactly why I asked before trying it! I thought since it was directly after the egr cooler that that was its sole purpose, and the first hose would take care of and aeration like other engines I've worked on that only have one tube on coolant bottles.

You could block it off if you wanted. But it doesn't hurt anything to have it.
