Just got into my 2014 CC Lariat w/6.2 last week. I love it! Got out of my 08 6.4 King Ranch that was about to cost me some high dollar engine repairs.

 

I purchased a left over 2012 CC 4x4 with the 6.2 3.73 gears. This past summer. It's a great truck. I'm averaging 14.5 MPG. Currently I have 10k on it. I'' be getting a camper on it in a couple of months. I was driving an 2000 S-10 4x4 with a 4.3 ltr. This truck is quite the upgrade.

I might just start a separate thread on this because I have posted it on a few threads, but often I read folks saying the 6.2 is a little sluggish, or "soft off the line", even though it tows powerfully, etc. If you think it has too slow response, try turning off the traction control (using the button over on the passenger side of the dashboard). It seems Ford really has the traction control set up to soften up the throttle application from stop, and the up-shifts - anything that could break traction. I turn off the traction control on dry roads or even when it is raining and I am on decent paved roads, and it goes from the stop lights when I step on the gas and shifts a lot better. Give it a try and let me know what you think...

 

no need to start new thread, this is about the review of the 6.2L,, thanks for your input, that's nice to know if I turn off the TC the truck will handle a little different,, I might try it on dry weather, maybe not so much on rainy/slick weather but dry will be good..

 

That Pesky Traction control neuters the spinning tires at stops. Every time I stomp on it when it's wet it stops the spin...It is nice. But I really like spinning the tires! Its a good thing. Too bad I like to play in the Rain...DOH!

We have 6.2's at work in the 180k-200k and they have been driven hard by multiple people. All have held up very well, nothing out of the ordinary repair wise. Much better service out the 6.2 than 6.0 and 6.4 diesels we had.
I have a 13 6.2 4x4, CC and really like it so far. Have 7k on it now and MPG are getting better, on hwy getting 14. My last trip I got 15.2....that was with a tailwind and cruise @ 70. I was trying to see the best i could get, not my normal driving style though.Just hauled my tractor home last week, about 12k total with trailer. Pulled good I thought, set the cruise on 75 and the truck did its thing.

 

These numbers crack me up! I reset the mileage counter the day I got it and in almost 300 miles, it's only reached 11mpg once for a couple seconds on a 30-mile freeway run. Mostly in the high 9- low 10mpg range. I'm hoping it gets better!

 

My truck has about 250 miles on it,my numbers are the same as yours.I am not worried about it I am sure it will get better when it gets more miles on it.

 

I was getting 10's to low 11's and at around 5800-6k it started getting better. I knew folks would say I full of BS for the 15 mpg ...so here are pics. Like I said , i was trying, driving easy, no head wind. Normally if I keep it under 75 I am in the 14's as of late. These are about 70 miles into the 100 mile trip to the ranch. My average city/hwy, going to from work is now in the low 12's...sometime high 11's depending traffic and my right foot.

 

Saltbranch, im interested in the mileage of the 6.2L. I see all your pictures are just after fillup. Lets see those numbers close to empty.

I am not sure the difference it would make, for example on my return trip home from the weekend. I averaged 13.*13.5, that was headed south into a strong south wind.

I was at 15 mpg when I got to the gate. The MPG went down after that for obvious reasons. Idling around the property, putting hay out. I hooked up to a 20' trailer and was pulling/ idling around with it loading scrap metal/old farm equip from around the acreage. At times using 4x4, loaded up around 6k worth. Swapped trailers and drove 50 miles to pick up 10 round bales of hay and brought back. I was right at 10.xx mpg at that point. Stopped got some fuel , went back to ranch, unloaded hay. Drove around property, looking at cattle and enjoyed a few beers at that evening. Next morning loaded up and headed home. Reset the meter and got 13.-13.5 on return trip.

 

With 6000 mi. on my 13, my average from day 1, two 80 mi. trips with a 9000lbs 5th wheel and idling included is 13.2.

 

Mine has 7,500 miles on it now and as it starts to loosen up the power comes on better and earlier, it has the camper package with sway bar on the back and this 7,000+ lb truck goes better around a corner than my f150 did, plus it has an 8 ft box & extended cab. Only thing I have done to it is change the oil and adjust the gas pedal ( I'm only 5'6 on a good day )

 

I'm at 1400 miles and lifetime 12.9..Of course I would love to get 14-15mpg's.. I am curious as I get to 3k or more and warmer temps if my truck mpg's will increase..will see. It will be hard cause I will be towing boat every weekend but if I could get 14-15 I would be thrilled..I would be thrilled if it will operate and run w/o issue for a 100k..thats more important than mpg's..

 

Omg what I going on with your rig? 6mpg does not sound anywhere close to right with a 7k trailer unless you drive everywhere with your foot to the floor??????

I have not towed my new 28' trailer but my old one with my car and tools was probable close to 6k and my truck would do 12.5 on the hwy

My truck has 15k miles now and I average roughly 13mpg city driving. On the hwy at 65mph it will do 15-16 and sometimes bump 17 if its flat this is empty of course.

I am not at all worried about longevity with this engine. The 6.2 has already proven to be good past 100k miles with little to no problems.

With my new trailer I hope to get at least 10mpg ..... The trailer should come in close to 9k loaded. But then again it's only 100 mile trips to the race track so it's not that big of a deal if it doesn't.

I am curious to what my city driving mpg goes to with the 2.5" lift and 35's I plan to put on.
