Got a chip or tuner? What were you doing before this started to happen?

I'm guessing if you remove the oil cap and flip it upside down and start the motor it will shoot the oil cap up into the air a little and give you a nice chug chug like a steam locomotive coming out the fill tube?

Sorry, but it's not a PCV valve. Sounds like you have compression gasses in the crank case.

There is no pcv valve on a 7.3.

The crankcase vent is on the rear of the driver's side valve cover.

Are there any modifications near the driver-side valve cover? It's remotely possible the CCV "doghouse" is plugged up. You can take it off and clean it with a solvent, then blow it out before re-installing. That's the "I sure hope" answer. The up-side down oil filler cap test is the "I sure hope not" answer.

Is your crank case vent still routed into the intake? Many people do what is known as a CCV mod. They route the crank case vent via hose to someplace under the truck. The reason I ask is because some southerners like to put long hoses on and in cold climates it can freeze shut causeing all kinds of problems.

I'm trying to look at the bright side.

Do the oil cap test. If you get the chug chug noted above, well that's bad.
