Can a Gear Vendors work with a transfer case?

Looked on their site yesterday just browsing and was going through what they offered for 4x4s. It looks to me as though their auxiliary transmission takes the place where a transfer case would go, so one could not have a 4wd truck with it in place. Do they work with transfer cases or not?

Also I can't really get a straight answer is how you operate them. I know its a planetary gear system but when your driving a manny with it how do you actually use it? Do you turn the switch on and keep it on while you shift or do you have to keep turning it on and off while you shift through the gears then turn it on when you need it?

Also MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Most use it as an OD only. Splitting gears with one is a pita, so I've read. Not impossible, but depending on what trans you have and the gear splits in it, probably not worth the effort.

As for use with a 4x4, if your TC is divorced, you put the GV on the tail of your trans. Makes for a little longer set up, so you may have ds, cross member and /or TC relocation work to do. If you have a married TC and put it behind the TC, you will have ds work for sure, and you will have to figure out a fail safe way to lock it out when in 4 wheel drive.

That's what I thought. Some were telling me that I would not be able to run a transfer case off the Gear Vendors on it. Yeah the goal would be just to run it as a OD on a NP435. Gear splitting seems to be only nice if you are towing and all they have is either car or truck/towing and that's about it.

I knew that both drive shafts would have to be redone to compensate both. Thanks for the help.

My 78 f350 used to have a gear vendor a 30 over 20 under with it behind a t18 I had 8 forward hears and it was a manual vendor you could use it to split gears you started the box in low shift through your first gears then put the trans in neutral then shifted the vendor to hi then you clutched it into 1st gear again and went through them till you hit 4th on the trans when you hit forth on the trans the second time you were in 8th. But the down fall is you had to down shift through all 8 gears while being quick enough while coming out of the top 4 to shove the. Vender to low to catch the bottom 2 gears. You drove the truck like you drove a twin stick perterbuilt. You can mount it behind your t case but your front axle won't pull right when in 4x4

Sounds very similar to old school twin sticking. I think I'd be better off with a switch than trying to twin stick and end up crashing into someone. Least that's what it seems like to me.
