Alternatives to wiper motor '54 effie?
Guys, I am incredibly gutted.
I can blame the ice cream and the cake for that, but there's something else that has gutted me today, and that is my despicable wiper motor.
Block your ears while I swear my guts out.
Get this: It all started with ordering some wiper arms. Ordered the wrong ones locally, and then had to order another set from midfifty. They were the right ones. Weeks went by. They arrived! Beauty! Went to fit them and the pivot thing fell apart.
Damn, so I went ahead and ordered a new set. A few weeks later they arrive (again midfifty) and are perfect. Yaaa! Fitted them up and went to turn on the wiper motor, which made one last exultation before stopping.
That's weird, I said to myself. Actually, I didn't I said "ah F**k it!" and got under there to investigate. I can tell you now, NEVER stick your finger up there to free the wiper lever from the motor. Caught hold of my big finger and twisted the crap out of it.
I am typing with one middle finger pointing upward because it's too painful to touch the keypads. Needless to say this post is taking me hours to complete.... (Some violins, please guys)
Anyway, pulled this motor apart and discovered some kind of washer in there with all its teeth chewed off. I guess the whole thing is a throwaway?
I know you can get new for $150, but by the time it hits this country its more like $300.
Any success with other types before I fork out, guys?
Thanks for your help.
Peter

Back somtime in the 1970s one of our 1954s took a dump. Went to the local
Ford dealer and gave me a wiper motor for a 1961 F series, they said this will
fit 1954 on up F series. What can I say, its still working till this day.
1961-2-3-4-5 dont know about 1966. Its 12 volt.
