how many miles on your 6.4
#17
I have ~77,000 miles tuned under my belt. Mixture of hauling, towing, racing & running around town. I have an intermittent imbalance on Cyl 5 that the dealer cant seem to diagnose. I'm a **** on maintenance and fluid checking. She's been good to me. Starting to get a little antsy now that I'm close to 100K.

2008 SRW F-250. 100% stock. 76,000 miles.
Had an EGT sensor go bad at about 60K.
Knock on wood; other than oil & filter changes every 5K and fuel filters every 10K I haven't had to do a thing to it.
In about another 1000 miles it will be going in for a coolant flush, transmission filter change and fluids changed in the differentials and transfer case. New batteries probably aren't in the too distant future either.

Question for the 6.4 owners with 100,000+ miles. Do you use your a lot? As in pulling a load. Not just a car as most these days use theres. Reason I ask, is I see some that have 150,000 miles or more. No issues and most use there 's not just drive to work 10 miles on way. These short trips kills a diesel faster then anything. So just trying to see how many with lots of miles use them? Or has been a town car and still held up?
Looking at a 2008 4500 with the 6.4 love the truck. But scared of the motor issues. But it has 156,000 miles so it has been used. Plus has a low side bed on it not the standard pickup bed. Thinking it was used not a play toy.
If I do go this route, will be doing deletes on it first thing. As it will be used to pull a 42ft 5th wheel camper that is pushing 17,000 lbs.

2008 with 136,XXX miles. CAC/DPF deleted at 72,000 miles. Oil changed and Blackstone tested every 5000-6000 miles. Fuel Filters replaced every other oil change.
-Replaced oil cooler (mixed universal green with Ford gold) at 95,000
-Replaced Belts, Tensioners, Hoses, Fuel Cooler, etc at same time as Oil Cooler since the cab was off.
-Replaced temp sensor in transmission at 101,000
Extrememly happy with truck and engine...

66k miles. Purchased June 1 2007. Deleted, tuned, and egr delete.
I just got my ex wifes honda odyssey and it is more practical with two kids, easy to park, better fuel economy, etc.... I am at a loss what to do with my truck now. I drive the honda a lot more
Went through a divorce so no boat or travel trailer so I have no need for a diesel truck anymore. I do not foresee buying another boat anytime soon due to stupid fishing regulations these days.
At least both vehicles have been paid off for two years now

Just over 230,000 kms (143,000 miles) on my '09 and is running the best it ever has! I use it as a car and a hauler with equal regularity.
Had its share of issues along the way for sure....worst of which was the HPFP at 195,000 kms which all started with a rock causing a leak in the fuel cooling system in my opinion.
Has been DPF and EGR deleted since 165,000 and pulls like a champ! Pulls my 7,000 lb boat up the 2 mile long 12% grade to my house every weekend in the summer like it's barely there. Last road trip through the Rockies to Calgary got 21.7 mpg hand calculated which is better than my '07 Avalanche with the Active Fuel Management (8 cylinders to 4) would get!
I expect to get another 150,000 plus out of her with no major issues...she's not bulletproof but I would say she's now pretty bullet resistant!
Regular maintenance and fluid changes is cheap insurance!

Bought new in 2007. Motor all stock..30k miles now.0 problems. Has the typical recalls.just bought batteries today..1st set. Had coolant changed earlier in the year. Drove it to work first couple years..put 15k on it now just use it mostly for towing camping trailer...maybe 2k miles a year. Just bought fuel filter today also. First set was done at 20k. Rail filter was dirty and top filter was clean..eager to see what they look like with only 10k on them. Oil changed first at 10 miles..then after reading about all the oil making problems went to about 7k miles between changes then just to once a year once I was only driving a couple 1k miles a year. Will do the tranny flush in a few weeks also. Hopefully after that truck will be good for another 7 years. Oh my 7 year ESP is up in Aug. looking at the premium 5 year for $2400..

These trucks fare better when they are used regularly i.e. longer trips with heavier loads. One thing in particular to be careful of however is cavitation. While cavitation is an issue on all 6.4s and you must check coolant nitrite levels regularly, the 450 and 550 are particularly prone to cavitation issues due to their lower axle gearing and consequent higher RPM operation.
