I got in an agument with a friend of mine today on whether Ford made a 2wd Bronco. I said they didn't, but can you guys tell me for sure sure yes or no.
How many times has this been discussed? Someone will come on later and say some executive had Ford build him a special 2 wheel drive Bronco like a Lightning or something like that. But no, for general public consumption, all Bronco's were 4 wheel drive.
hey guys, how about when the state department has broncos that are in fact 2wd, even of the 90s vintage, same with the national parks and what not, many of these broncos were in fact 2wd. these were the broncos that were made specfically for these gov't purposes, just as are a lot of police interceptors, etc...
Now why on earth would the parks service WANT a 2WD Bronco? Not only do I find it hard to believe, I find it a preposterous notion that an organization charged with keeping the peace and enforcing the laws in areas that don't necessarily have roadways constructed through them would even consider purchasing such vehicles. The reason the parks service had Broncos in the first place is for the 4WD capabilities. The state dept uses subrubans like the FBI and other govt. entities anyway, thats what their drivers are trained on. Even if these vehicles exist, the fact still remains that they were a special purchase quantity for govt. use only and were NOT available to the general public.
Just a side note, I've seen parks service Broncos for sale on the web and trade magazines....all have been 4WD.
Getting ones hands on such a vehicle would be like buying a Jeep DJ-5 or DJ-6.

Nobody is going to have a pic of a 2wd Bronco because they do not exist. The costs involved in changing processes on an assembly line out-weigh the cost of just making it a 4x4. The gov't is not going to save any money because Ford would have to pass those costs along.
I have a govt. bronco....1996 model....and it is 4 wheel drive...at least...when I pull the lever in the floor...this 4 x 4 light comes on....it could all be a hoax...and just two wheel drive...not sure...now I am worried....
