New to Me 6.0 PSD 1 year Cost of Ownership

Hey guys I'm just about at 1 year of owning my new to me 2006 F250 6.0. For prospective buyers and others that are curious I thought I'd post an Excel spreadsheet of what are some items that have failed, items that are routine maintenance and items that were done as preventative measures.

I've spent $2,412.17 in the first year which I think is about right for a used truck that had 84xxx miles on it. Overall, it was in great condition and had an immaculate service history which essentially sold me on this specific truck. The biggest expense I've had so far was finding out the A/C wasn't working this past summer. I also had the cyl. 1 glow plug fail and I just replaced all 8 and the harnesses as well. Other than that I've done some things to get ahead and that is about it.

Never been stranded in this truck nor have I had any catastrophic EGR related failures or anything like that.

Not bad
its good info for those considering a new to me purchase. That is the relative cost IF something went worng and what the Maintenance costs will be, great Trucks and worth every penny.

My truck had 200k miles when purchased. 1st yr drove 40k miles costs were about $5k. That includes 2 shop repairs - one injector and a near Full A/C system replacement. As you stated stuff expected on a higher mileage vehicle.

Yea I think the costs associated with operating a higher mileage diesel are going to be higher than a gasser, but this gives someone thinking about buying where it might be. I got a deal on the tires and the ball joints so it could've easily been 1k more.

This is a cool idea. I tried to log my repairs for the year and couldn't remember half the things I did.

Just wondering why the glow plug replacement was so much?

These are great ideas, and you do it just after your done the repair/upgrade. I think that's the mistake I made, I waited until the end of summer to log it into my book, I started asking the wife what all I did, yea right.

That's not too bad. Separate out the cost of motor maintenance costs vs the vehicle maintenance costs and it looks like your doing good.

Good idea. I have owned mine for 8 months and only into it for a oil change ( Rotella T6 ). Knock on wood. My truck has 187k miles on it. Not sure if this is a testament to the maintenance of the previous owner.

I'm similar to Benny except I keep it all (notes, receipts, ect) in a Posse Box in the truck. Once in while I'll get it out and log in the spreadsheet just for my own sense of what I'm doing, looking for patterns and such.

I also do a KOEO / Idle / 2500rpm log ever oil change. Logging it on paper and computer to check for differences that might escape normal monitoring.

As far as my repairs and such - for a truck with nearly 300k on it and from the looks of it everything that I have done it appears is the 1st time done I'd say my truck is kicking ***! I love this beast and will never look back.

Chuck the glow plugs and ball joints were done at the same time and it was the dead of winter. I don't have a garage and there was no chance I was doing all that in a driveway. Had a dealer do it for me. Service manager misquoted the labor on the ball joints so I jumped all over it lol.
